Bea says thanks for being a friend!
Speaking of Bea; ... she tell us she loves to quilt, do genealogy, and paint birds. Her husband, JB, has been taking her to the senior center to see some old friends and she donated some crafts books, and some silver ware that she no longer needed. She is trying to clean house, or in other words, to downsize because she says she has too much stuff; quilting books and fabric and some ceramic dolls. When they return
from Oregon they will be planning a big yard sale. She has 4 grandchildren
also almost 4 great grandchildren.

Salads
With all their freshness, salads add panache to any meal. By varying
ingredients and combinations, salads are perfect from appetizers on to
desserts. If ever there was ever a food that could claim versatility, it’s salad.
Serve it up a thousand ways and then some. Excellent as a fresh entree
or as the companion to the main meal, salad remains an enjoyable and
timeless meal to savour with friends and family. Prepared simply with
lettuce and some vegetables, or more elaborately with the addition of
meat, cheese, fish, legumes, fruit or nuts etc., salads can be a full
meal. Super practical and ready in no-time, salad can be served hot or
cold and is just as well suited wit fresh seasonal ingredients or what
you have on hand.
A vinaigrette by classic definition is an emulsified sauce that combines an acid (vinegar, lemon. etc.) and a fat (oil, cream, sour cream, etc.) as well as flavourings. The variations are endless: cold, hot, sweet, salty, or creamy. You may also alter the preparation of your vinaigrette by changing your choice of ingredients: various oils and vinegars, yogurt or buttermilk, etc.
Making a salad with milk products is a real cinch. Whether it’s cubed
or shredded Cheddar, Havarti, Mozzarella or Swiss crusted croutons, cheeses add punch to a salad, making it more nutritious and
simply irresistible! Adding cream, yogurt, buttermilk or sour cream will
transform a salad dressing to smooth, exquisite perfection. Simple to
use, dairy products bring variety to your salad and promise a tasty
result every time.
Let us inspire each other with our favourite salad recipes. What is your favourite salad combination? I know our Cookbook Queen, Daphne , would love to add them to our WWWCOF Cooking Around the World Collection of Recipes

Hi Everyone, here are some pictures of a cake I made for Easter. I used a wilton
checkerboard pan to create the pattern inside of the cake. I only used 2 colours
this time, but it does look very pretty with 3. The fondant flowers are made by
using Gum Paste Flower Cutter Set. I recommend that you use fondant for flowers
if they are to be eaten. You can eat gumpaste flowers but they are a bit hard
and taste like carboard.
The frosting I made is a raspberry one.
1/2 cup
butter
1/2 cup Rasberry perserve
1/2 Tsp Vanilla
2 Cups powered
sugar/icing sugar
pinch of salt (usethe salt as this brings out the
flavours
A little water to add to get desired consitency.
The
best cake recipe I have found so far is out of my favorite cookbook Betty
Crockers Cookbook, 1500 recipes for the way you cook today.
Starlight
Yellow Cake
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 1/2 Tsps
baking powder
1 Tsp salt (or how ever much you feel comfortable with)
1/2
cup Butter softened
1 1/4 cups milk
3 eggs
Heat oven to 350F/
180C
In a large bowl beat all ingrediants together (now I can see everyone
staring at this and thinking WHAT! but yes put all the ingrediants into a bowl
and mix, its that simple)
if possible mix with a whisk on low speed for about
30 secounds then on high for 3 mins
pour into you cake tins or muffin cases
and cook
Bake 13 inch pans for 30-40 mins
9 inch pans 25-30 mins or until
toothpic inserted comes out clean
Cool completly before putting on frosting
else you will get runny frosting.
The next project on the list is a
basket with what will look like balls of wool and a crochet hook. This will be
for my mother in laws birthday in July. I will post pictures when i have done
it. If you have any questions just email me, formerly UK now Canadian Pat
Easter comes but once a year - but one couple have turned it into a lifetime's project.
German
pensioners Volker and Christa Kraft have decorated the tree in their
back garden in Saalfeld for Easter for more than 40 years. The tree now drips with more than 9,800 colourful Easter eggs, painted with pastoral scenes and religious icons.
Speaking of Easter; the Easter Bunny visited Rebekah and he not only left footprints on the floor, he dropped chocolates all along his path!

"And that person was her.".....
I suppose I must be short and sweet with this newsletter if it is going to reach you this weekend like I would like it to.
I would like to finish with a delightful story from our Bigsis Pat .
As some of you may know
on New Years Eve, my grandson Joey called to tell me that he and his girlfriend
Amanda were expecting, that I was to become a great grandmother!
Recently, Amanda posted this ultrasound picture of the new
baby, and apparently it’s going to be a boy!
And as an added bonus, Amanda already has a
little boy Ethan, so I will have two great grandsons
This got me to thinking
how much my family has grown. I began
with 4 children and 11 grandchildren.
Two years ago, I acquired a step granddaughter, Ashley, she is the
daughter of my daughter Lisa’s partner Richie.
And last fall, I was reunited with my stepson Chris,
and
discovered I have two step grandsons Taygen and Tristan.

I hope you have enjoyed this newsletter as much as I have enjoyed putting it together for you. I look forward to receiving your stories for next week's issue. Have a wonderful weekend!
Believe with all of your heart that you
will do what you were made to do.
