Global Express - March 9th, 2012 Issue

Welcome to our Global Village and to this week's issue of Global Express!

This newsletter is published by the members of the World Wide Web Circle of Friends for the members of the World Wide Web Circle of Friends about the members of the World Wide Web Circle of Friends. We are everyday people doing extraordinary things on an International Scale on the web! Each of us are unique and there is no one else like us in the entire universe. We have different life experiences, different cultures, different ideas and some of us even speak different languages but "we are family" and we care and love to share! We acknowledge and embrace those special qualities that make each of us the person that we are!

Grab a coffee and sit back and relax.  I hope each of you has enjoyed a great week -- the first week of March and I look forward to hearing what your plans are for the rest of the month and share those plans in our newsletter.

This week's issue has "gone to the cats and dogs" -- well at least it is starting off this way and I am so happy to share some delightful stories of our members' beloved "fur children",
A good deed is never lost:
he who sows courtesy reaps friendship;
and he who plants kindness gathers love.

Let us begin with Deanna's two dogs, Miss Dorothy Red Shoes and Sir Maxwell Smart. Dorothy is a cairn terrier and Maxwell is a wired hair fox terrier. Dorothy has been a gift from GOD for many reasons. She was purchased shortly after we lost our Scooter to cancer. Dorothy loves playing with my fabric scraps in my quilting studio. She has from day one. But, as soon as any machine is used, she's out of the room.

Almost from day one, she has been Maxwell's caregiver. She is always by his side either just being there with him or cleaning his eyes for him. Scooter crossed over July 31, 2010 and Maxwell quickly starting going downhill. He missed his brother so much and started having severe health problems. Maxwell turned 15 January 28 and we either go through really bad days or some good days. He totally lost his sight this year but you can tell he still enjoys his life. We have watched him map out all three floors of our home. When he needs help, we help. On good days, they both go to the dog park. Maxwell has even mapped out the park. Unless Maxwell lets us know it is time for him to join his brother, we will do what needs to be done to give him an enjoyable life. Our dogs are very special to us and we will do everything we can to give them a happy and enjoyable life.

“One day at a time - this is enough.
Do not look back and grieve over the past,
for it is gone: and do not be troubled
about the future, for it has not yet come.
Live in the present, and make it so
beautiful that it will be worth remembering."
 ~ Ida Scott Taylor
Moving right along to  Lena who would like to tell us about Sammy.  First let me tell you, i had not even thought of getting a cat. I am a dog person, always have had dobermans. But i live on a busy corner of  two roads and do not have a fenced yard. Then i saw a picture of her free to good home. When i saw those big beautiful green eyes, that was it, i was going to get her. The weather was so bad with ice and snow, the lady kept her for me till i could go and get her.But when i saw her she was huge, all i had seen was a picture of her face. And i thought what am i getting into here, but she was so pretty i took her. That was just over a year ago, now and that was a great decision, now i would not trade her for anything. She is the best company i could ask for. When i come home, she is at the door to greet me, and wants her belly rubbed. She sleeps with me, as hubby has passed away , she loves to sleep with  me, her head on my hand, was hard trying to take this picture of this with one hand, lol. Were i am she is too . At night if she is not in bed before i go, all i have to say is, where's my Sammy where is mama's girl and here she come. One of the best things i ever did was to take her. She is such a good girl.
Believe with all of your heart that you
will do what you were made to do.

Lena reminds everyone who has a pet, dog, cat, birds, even turtles, fish? to send in there pictures, and a story about them .Like   how they got them, what they love about them, things that we would like to see, and hear about them , the funny things they do. And how much joy they bring to our lives. Would be nice to have a different story every week. Please send us your story and pictures so we can all enjoy them too
Chrissie reports on her Benji saying that this picture was taken last summer Benji laying under the garden chair getting some shade.
Benji is a little devil he loves making a bit hole in mummies garden.
 Caught in the act!
Now on to our human friends and family ....

Did you know that Maxine's birthday is on Tuesday, March 13.  This would be a great time to email her (you can do this by just clicking on her name) and wish her a happy birthday.  She has had a rough start to 2012 and recently had 2 stents put in and I know hearing from you would make her very happy and help so much to keep her spirits high.

Beauty Parlour News

Jami decided to become a "True REDHEAD" and to beat all she got a funky haircut.  Why you might ask....well she reports that in four months she will be 60 years old and she wanted a change.  This new "DO" will make her feel younger emotionally (if not physically) she says.  Change is good and Jami you look great!

I have  not received any jottings of Jan's active retired life in her country

Australia but you are  invited to go over to her blog and have a quick visit also.

Just click on her name.

Our facebook page of the week is also Jan's Page.  Do visit there too and enjoy.

Here is a tip for the week from Sharon in Ontario, Canada:
 Spice Up Your Burgers:
Need a quickie idea for making a tastier hamburger?

When mixing the burger, just add a bit of chunky salsa to it.

This will give it added flavor with the peppers, onions and tomatoes.

A package of dry onion soup mix works wonders on that burger too!
Daphne from Argentina is our Cookbook Queen and would love to publish your recipes and tips and tricks in our cookbook extraordinaire so do be sure to send them in!

Speaking of recipes I am happy to share Annette's recipe that she got from (of all places) a murder mystery book.  She made it a couple of days ago and says it was YUMMY!

Frozen Lemonade Pie
1 can sweetened, condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 can frozen lemonade concentrate(about 6 oz) slightly thawed
1 container frozen whipped topping (8oz),thawed (cool whip, etc not the can stuff)
1 ready made graham cracker pie crust

Whisk togerther condensed milk and lemonade concentrate. Fold in whipped topping. Pour mixture into crust and freeze for 5 to 6 hours. Can garnish with candied lemon peel or ultrathin slices of lemon.
Annette garnished with shaved white chocolate on top just before serving.  She says this pie has a nice tart flavour; not one of these sicky sweet pies.
This reminds me that  Lena sent in this link for 40 Extraordinary Make-Ahead Desserts.  She is such a great source for recipes!!!!!!!!!  Thanks Lena.

Congratulations to Bea for having her gardening tip published in About.com Gardening Quick Tips & Solutions.  Her tips were:

Bug Deterrents

 1. Save pencils shaving for house plants keeps bugs away.
 2. I use grits to keeps ants away, it works,,;lol;

One of our many WWWCOF Sites is Planet Kryzys and I came across this saying which would be perfect quoted on there.

We cannot have harmony and balance in our lives if we forget to include the earth and natural rhythms in our lives.
Irene reminds us that there comes a point in your life when you realize:

Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will.
So, don't worry about people from your past,
There's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.
These flowers are a gift to each of us.from Romina, who is Daphne's daughter, This picture and others of the flowers in her garden can be found on the World Wide Web Circle of Friends' Facebook page.  It is summer in all its glory  in South America.
In North America we are heading into Spring so we will have some beautiful flowers soon but first a reminder that Daylight's Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 11 -- and since you need to reset your clock (Spring Forward One Hour), Daylight Saving Time is also a great time to ensure other important devices such as your smoke alarms are functioning properly as well.
